As I was reading the New York Times on Saturday morning, I happened upon two stories that give a good indication of just how dangerous the reactionary right-wing in this country can be.
The first story has been all over the news this past week. The Susan B. Komen for the Cure foundation is one of the country’s largest charitable organizations in the fight against breast cancer. You’ve undoubtedly seen their ubiquitous pink ribbons on the back on people’s cars, and may have even given donations over the years to help this organization in its important work.

Not long ago I was sitting in a favorite restaurant, taking advantage of the free WiFi as I ate my lunch, when I became the unwitting and unwilling witness of a confrontation between one of the servers; a large, middle-aged woman and her boss; a tiny, old man.
"I guess there's no point in talking about more hours then?" she screamed angrily as she entered the public area, loud enough so that everyone took notice.

A Fair Idea from a Working Class Slob
I think the minimum wage should be enough where a forty hour
a week job gives me the dignity to look my child in the eye and say we live in
the greatest nation in the world. A job that does not make me feel as though
I'm on a hamster wheel always being expected to sacrifice a little more, run a
little faster, so my superiors can buy their third house, second yacht, and
vacations where ever they please. So yes, I believe the minimum wage should be
